Involving grandchildren
During her apparitions (at La Salette, Pontmain, Pellevoisin...), the Blessed Virgin often chose little children as her interlocutors. At Fatima, she appeared to 3 children, the youngest of whom, Jacinta, was just 6 years old! So, of course, children are the first to be invited to grant the Blessed Virgin's requests, and it's vital to talk to them about it.
The importance of children was stressed several times by Christ in the Gospel:
" I praise you Father that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children." (St Mat 11, 25)
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God is for those who are like them." (St Luke 18:16)
With these words, Christ reminds us of their wonderful qualities: spontaneity, purity of intention, humility, simplicity, selflessness. These are the inner dispositions needed to adhere to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Children are naturally highly sensitive to the message of Fatima. In particular, they are very touched by the fact that, by offering up their little difficulties they can save grown-ups from hell. It's mind-boggling for them. They who are so "small" become major players in "big" society.
So get all the children you know involved, even the very young ones. Everyone will be able to find the right language.
By way of example, here's a possible approach with children:
- Tell them the story of the 3 children of Fatima and the role they are called to play. themselves to following Jacinthe François and Lucie.
- Explain how important it is for the world that they regularly offer the little difficulties they experience. From the age of 5, they can perfectly understand the issues at stake, with a purity of intention that we'll find hard to match.
- Finally, if possible, include them on the 1st Saturday of the month.
Applying the message of Fatima will initiate in children a spiritual life turned towards Christ, the Blessed Virgin and others. Putting the love of Mary's Heart in their hearts will mark them all their lives, and make them the saints we need.
